Greater Sydney and Hunter Region, NSW

Led by Managing Director, Julie McGraw, GEMS Event Management Australia has been proudly based in Five Dock, Sydney for more than 30 years. Operating from the heart of the city, the team has developed a deep understanding of Sydney’s venues, precincts and event infrastructure. This long-standing presence also gives GEMS valuable insight into neighbouring regional centres such as the Central Coast, Newcastle and the Hunter Valley, enabling the team to confidently guide clients toward diverse and well-matched event locations across NSW.


Mid North Coast, NSW

Sarah Robinson, Senior Conference and Operations Manager at GEMS Event Management Australia, has lived between Coffs Harbour and Port Macquarie for more than a decade. Based rurally and deeply immersed in her local community of Eungai, NSW, Sarah brings a strong regional perspective and a genuine passion for supporting events that strengthen and celebrate local communities. Her connection to the Mid North Coast informs her commitment to delivering high-quality, impactful events across regional NSW.


Far North Coast, NSW

Michelle Glasson, General Manager of GEMS Event Management Australia, has lived and worked in Pottsville in Northern NSW for the past decade while raising her young family. Deeply connected to the region, Michelle is passionate about championing and supporting regional events throughout the Tweed and broader regional NSW. She values strong collaboration and is committed to working closely with Destination North Coast and Destination NSW to help deliver impactful, well-supported events that showcase the best of the region.

Michelle was part of the working committee, led by Destination North Coast on the 'Cheers to Recovery' Campaign in 2020. Watch the video below.


SOCIAL IMPACT FOR THE GREATER GOOD

Over many years of managing conferences in major cities as well regional locations across Australia, our team has recognised the importance of generating a positive outcome for the communities within which we operate.

While the events we host may only be held for 1 – 5 days, there is a far-reaching impact of these events for local businesses and community groups and we endeavor to maximize that positive impact where possible.

Ways in which we can support the local communities, include:

  • Engaging local businesses for the production of speaker and delegate gifts that are made locally
  • Engaging local contractors and suppliers that support social responsibility practices within their own businesses and communities.
  • Supporting venues that are community focused that provide jobs and opportunities within their communities.
  • Offering delegates the opportunity to support local volunteer groups or, where appropriate, engage with industry related groups where their expertise could be greatly valued.

When we are engaged for an event and the destination has been announced. GEMS will work with the conference committee to identify ways in which the event can generate greater social and sustainable outcomes for the local community.
