The 34th Annual Conference of NAGCAS “Ahead of the Curve: Enhancing Quality Career Development and Employability” will be staged on the beautiful campus of the University of Wollongong – bounded by magnificent coastal landscapes to the east and the impressive bushland of the Illawarra escarpment to the west.
This annual event will draw close to 300 delegates, chiefly from the university and TAFE sectors, with smaller numbers from industry, government and high schools.
The Conference title alludes to our key theme of quality (assurance and enhancement) across the intersecting domains of career development, work integrated learning, employability and enterprise learning. Sub themes will include the contextual elements of our work – global trends, labour market pressures, and brokering relationships across stakeholder groups i.e. academics, industry, government, communities…and our student talent.
Our venue facilities are top class – including the plenary and breakout conference venues, the recently completed on campus accommodation at the Kooloobong Student Village, with easy access to the University Sport and Recreation facility (with its own state of the art gym and 50 metre outdoor heated pool) and with delightful walks through our Botanical Gardens, a stone’s throw away. For early risers wanting to catch a few waves, go for a brisk walk along North Wollongong’s pristine sandy beaches, or simply relax and enjoy a great coffee, a free shuttle bus runs regularly from the campus to town via the beach.
There is no better place to network, share challenges and solutions with your colleagues - those new (and not so new) to the industry, and gain access to contemporary high quality practices to better meet the needs of our client groups – students, industry and university and TAFE senior decision makers.
If your work and interests lie in making a quality contribution to how our graduates are prepared for and recruited into global labour markets – then this event is a must PD event in 2014. Furthermore if your business activities support this important industry then your profile advantage will be unsurpassed.
Our venue is home to the University of Wollongong and the Illawarra TAFE and, situated a mere 80 Km south of Sydney, the location offers endless opportunities for relaxation or adventure.
