John McCullah, CPESC, Watershed Geologist

John McCullah has a BS in Watershed Geology (Humboldt State University) and an AA in Biology.  John received his CPESC Certification in 1986  has been a practitioner in erosion and sediment control, watershed restoration, stream restoration, biotechnical erosion control (bioengineering), road and trail inventories, and reconstruction and restoration for over 24 years..  He has been training others in these fields for over 12 years.

Mr. McCullah founded the Sacramento Watersheds Action Group (SWAG), a non-profit watershed restoration organization, in 1996, and he is the Executive Director of SWAG.  John has authored several BMP Manuals and “Manuals On CD” – Erosion Draw 5.0, BioDraw 3.0, and Environmentally-Sensitive Streambank Stabilization Techniques (E-SenSS). 

Mr. McCullah is currently producing erosion control training videos (Dirt Time video series), and instructs two courses at Shasta College in Redding, CA; the Watershed Restoration Practicum and the Caltrans Certified Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) online training.

 

Michael Frankcombe, CPESC
Principal Consultant, KMH Environmental

Michael Frankcombe is a Principal Environmental Consultant with more than twenty years practical environmental management experience in the civil construction, rural and mining industries specialising in erosion and sediment control.

Michael has a Batchelor of Environmental Science from the University of Wollongong majoring in land resources and management. He is a Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control and has been President of the International Erosion Control Association (Australasian Chapter) for more than eight years.

Michael has had extensive derelict mine rehabilitation experience having designed and implemented rehabilitation works on sites across NSW and QLD including derelict gold and tin mines in the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area in Far North Queensland and on Horn Island in the Torres Straits.

Michael has previously held professional environmental management roles in metaliferous and coal mining companies in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria and this gives him an intimate understanding of contemporary mining environmental management issues from a number of perspectives.

Michael's current focus is working with the coal mining industry to improve mine closure planning and rehabilitation practice.
