Invitation to Attend
Conference Registration Closes on Wednesday, 12th September - REGISTER NOW
The 2012 Australasian Special Education Conference "Lessons from the Past - Visions for the Future" will be held in the beautiful harbourside city of Fremantle in Western Australia. The Conference will be held at the Esplanade Hotel from Monday 17th to Wednesday 19th September, with an optional School Visit day on Thursday, 20th September.
On behalf of the Western Australian Education Support Principals' and Administrators' Association (WAESPAA), the Australian Special Education Principals' Association (ASEPA) and the Special Education Principals' Association of New Zealand (SEPANZ) we would like to invite you to join us for the premier Special Education event to be held in Australasia during 2012. The 2012 Australasian Special Education Conference will be a not to be missed event for special needs principals, administrators and teachers.
Legislative changes that were underpinned by the Warnock Report (1978) altered the face of special education world wide at the end of the 20th Century. The report recommended specialist provision for children with SEN and the assurance they received adequate provision. This conference will examine current and future practice in Special Education with a framework reflecting "Lessons from the past: Visions for the future".
This year we are delighted to have a presentation from Baroness Warnock included in the conference program. While she is not able to travel to Australia, the Baroness will pre record a keynote address for delegates to the 2012 Australasian Special Education Conference. Along with Baroness Warnock, we are pleased to be able to present a fantastic group of Keynote presenters at this year's conference. Full details are included on the Keynote Speaker page of this website.
The themes at the 2012 Conference will include:
- Early Intervention,
- Special Education in our Schools,
- Transition,
- Curriculum Considerations,
- Collaborative Models for Health and Wellbeing, and
- Current Research.
On behalf of the organising committee, we look forward to seeing you at the 2012 Australasian Special Education Conference.
