STORMWATER 2010 TECHNICAL TOUR

The 2010 Technical Tour provided an excellent opportunity for delegates to visit a number of stormwater sites in the inner city and eastern suburbs of Sydney. The 2010 Technical Tour included visits to:

  • The SIA Award winning Bronte Stormwater Harvesting Scheme, in which base flows are harvested from a channel and without any primary or secondary treatment, the water is used for open space irrigation, toilet flushing and cleaning of the ocean pool
  • Drummoyne Oval showcasing stormwater harvesting and water sensitive urban design as part of the new stadium and oval upgrade
  • Raingardens built as part of the City of Sydney's Redfern Pedestrian Cycling& Traffic Calming projects and the Footway Renewal & Improvement Program
  • Stormwater management projects and the impact of stormwater runoff at Centennial Park Ponds
  • The Cooper Park Stormwater Outlet Protection Works on the site of the 2009 Victoria Road landslip and the Bellevue Hill Raingardens

The tour also featured examples of porous paving projects and various GPTs including the clean-out of a CDS unit in Centennial Park.

For each project, delegates learned of the best management practices used, how they are maintained and alternative approaches that were considered.
