Technical Tour Information

The 2010 Technical Tour will be held on Thursday, 29th April from 3.30 pm 6.00 pm. The Technical Tour is included in all two day conference registrations only. If you are a single day delegate and would like to attend the Technical Tour, tickets are available for $50 per person.

Site 1 - Large Industrial Subdivision at Pierce Avenue, Bells Creek

The first site is a 130 hectare Industrial sub-division at Bells Creek with lots ranging in size from approximately 0.3 hectares to 10 hectares. The development is situated in the floodplain of Lamerough Creek. The complexity of the site offered some design challenges, delivering some unique features. It incorporates many current best practice WSUD aspects including; stormwater detention, roofwater harvesting, bioretention and a constructed wetland to manage all stormwater discharge.

Presenter - Leon Rowlands, Sunshine Coast Regional Council

Site 2 - Medium Sized Commercial/Office Building at Cnr Nicklin Way and Lake Kawana Boulevard, Bokarina

The second site comprises two three story commercial buildings. The development is located on the southern bank of Lake Kawana which discharges into the Pacific Ocean via Currimundi Lake . The stormwater quality treatment system for the site consists of harvesting roofwater in two underground tanks with reuse for internal non-potable and outdoor uses. Stormwater runoff from driveways, car parking and some landscaped areas is directed as sheet flow to one of three bioretention devices on the site.  This site offers many aspects of current best practice WSUD for high-density and commercial sites .

Presenter - Robert Booker, Sunshine Coast Regional Council
