Julie McGraw - AMM AFMEA CEM
General Manager

 

Julie began her professional career in the hospitality industry and has worked for organisations such as Qantas, Southern Cross and Ritz Carlton. Specialising in the area of group and convention management, she was involved in the organisation of such projects as the International Conference of Iron and Steel in 1980 and the Commonwealth Heads of Government Conference in Melbourne in 1981.

 

With an Executive Certificate in Event Management (with Distinction) from the University of Technology Sydney, Julie is an Accredited Meetings Manager (AMM) and Associate Fellow of Meetings and Events Australia (AFMEA) and is a Certified Event Manager (CEM) with the Professional Conference Organisers Association of Australia. Julie has lectured in hotel management at the William Blue Hotel Management School and Macleay College and was a presenter at the PCO National Conference in 2008.

 

Julie has more than 25 years experience in the event management industry and continues to deliver outstanding results for her clients, excelling in her attention to detail and making her events not only profitable but also memorable. ith Julie leading the GEMS Events Team, nothing is impossible, having vision and integrity for each one of her clients. Michelle Glasson - CEM
Marketing and Business Development Manager

 

Michelle has over 9 years experience in event management. She holds a Bachelor of Human Movement from Southern Cross University with a major in Sport and Event Management. Michelle is accredited as a Certified Event Manager with the Professional Conference Organisers Association of Australia.

 

She began her career in 2002 with International Management Group (IMG), gaining a strong background in sporting and public events, as part of the events team for a number of iconic national events. Michelle joined the GEMS team in October 2005.

 

For the past 6 years, Michelle has been responsible for conference, sponsorship and trade show management for many of our long term clients including the Australian Association of Special Education, the NSW SSP Principals Network and the International Erosion Control Association. Michelle is a passionate and experienced event professional who has the ability to create smooth and successful event, whilst meeting the client's objectives.

 

In her role as Marketing and Business Development Manager, Michelle will be responsible for developing our brand and responding to all business opportunities for our organisation.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Marisa Poropat
Finance Manager

 

Marissa has more than 20 years experience in senior accounting roles including positions at Dolby Australia, Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Morgan and Banks and BHP Transport. Marisa is responsible for all accounting management at GEMS.

 

 

 

Deborah Hudnall
Event Manager

 

Deborah has completed a Bachelor of Business Administration, majoring in Event Management at the University Of Wollongong and has a Diploma in Event Management from TAFE. Deborah joined the GEMS team in May 2010.

 

Deborah is responsible for the management of all SIA Queensland monthly Events and and has managed the 2011 Principals Association of Special Schools Conference held in Victoria during July 2011, the 2011 Special Education Leaders Conference held in Sydney in August and is currently managing the 2012 International Conference on the Work of Francis Tustin.  Deborah has excellent web and graphic design skills and is responsible for development of our conference websites. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Shaleen Siwan
Event Coordinator

 

Shaleen has completed a Bachelor of Business majoring in Event Management and joined the GEMS team in March 2011. Shaleen is reponsible for delegate registrations, presenter management, trade exhibition and sponsorship coordination of a range of events including the 2011 Special Education Leaders Conference, the 2011 National Conference of the Australian Association of Special Education and the 2011 NAGCAS Conference.

 

Shaleen specialises in events conducted in the special education sector and is responsible for all on site audio visual management for our education clients.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Peta Freeman
Event Coordinator

 

Peta has completed a Bachelor of Business Administration majoring in Event Management at the International College of Management through Macquarie University and joined the GEMS Team in June 2011. Peta is reponsible for delegate registrations, presenter management, trade exhibition and sponsorship coordination for a range of events including the 2011 Stormwater NSW Conference and the 2012 International Conference on the work of Frances Tustin.

 

Peter specialises in events conducted in the engineering and environmental sectors and is responsible for all on site audio visual management for our environmental and education clients.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Nathan Beencke
Event Assistant

 

Nathan is currently studying a Bachelor of Paramedic Practice through the Sydney Campus of the University of Tasmania.  Nathan works for GEMS on a part time basis and is involved in on site registration management and general event management administrative tasks.
